IMA Studio 1 - N306 / Apiary
Fundamentals of Urban Beekeeping poster

Instructor: Marco Sentinelli

A full day session workshop introducing participants to honey bee biology, behavior, and sustainable beekeeping practices. The program combines a theoretical classroom session, with a hands-on apiary visit providing a balanced approach to learning.

Participants will gain practical skills in hive manipulation and colony inspection, while exploring key concepts such as honeybee social structures, communication, and their ecological role as pollinators. The workshop emphasizes natural and ethical beekeeping, prioritizing colony health over honey production, and addresses the global decline of honeybee populations. A unique feature is the opportunity to study two honeybee species, highlighting their differing behaviors and adaptations. The workshop also serves as a foundation for further exploration into advanced topics in apiculture and sustainability.
