Human Desire Machine Day 1

Featuring nearly 20 artists, curators, scholars, and critics from around the world, the conference will include 13 keynote speeches and 3 in-depth panel discussions. It aims to explore emergent topics of art, technology, environment, and symbiotic relationships, presenting innovative practices and cutting-edge reflections at the intersection of artistic exploration and technological development.

This academic conference is centered upon Choe U-Ram's core work "Anima-Machine", exploring how mechanical art, with its unique philosophical perspective and aestheric practice, creates a poetic landscape of energy flow and coexistence between machine and life, natural and artificial, through the creative pratice of Asian artists.

The conference will further examine media technologies and embodied experience, discussing how the concept of "Anima-Machine" evolves in the digital age, and how technology (especially digital technology) is reshaping our bodily perception, modes of existence, and ways of interacting with the world. Finally we will delve into the ontology of technology from a historical perspective: its boundaries, relationships, and histories. As technological continuously evolve, how can we rethink the boundaries between human and non-human, the symbiotic relationship between people and technology, and re-anchor human subjectivity in this rapidly shifting technological landscape?
