Gottfried Haider is an artist, educator, and software tool builder. He received a degree in Digital Arts from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, and an MFA from the Design Media Arts program at UCLA. He currently holds the position of Assistant Arts Professor at NYU Shanghai. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and media art festivals internationally and his work has been recognized with an Award of Distinction at Prix Ars Electronica and a Lumen Futures Award. He has been the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship as well as a Processing Foundation Fellowship for working towards building tools of empowerment and access at the convergence of art and technology. His personal practice considers the intersection of technology and the quotidian, and with a close engagement with hardware and software, explores nuanced perspectives in the realm of entirely mediated existence.
