Stone and fire, wood and wind, leaves and water, soil and lightning... The ubiquitous movement in nature, through visual processes, sound, and other perceptions make up the human perception of certain phenomena. Music is an art formed by sound through certain laws. How to understand nature, how to understand the world we live in, and how to keep them in balance. The musical instrument is a part of the body for the musician, a tool used to seek perception, and a symbol of guardianship.
In this talk, Lei Ban will present his artistic practice and explorations over the past five years. How to slowly evolve from a person who can only create works with computers and machines to a person who can present works without electricity.
Lei Ban graduated from the Music Department of Digital Art Institute of Shanghai University with a Bachelor's in music and engineering. He will be an IMA Visiting Professor next Fall 2023.
