This year’s exhibition blooms from the 2024 Digital Qiang Garden residency in Mao County, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan. Here, Qiang cultural heritage and digital innovation entwine, creating a vibrant ecosystem where tradition thrives in new forms.
At the heart of the exhibition lies the interplay of pixel and thread—a poetic metaphor for the dialogue between the tactile and the virtual. From threads to pixel, Qiang embroidery inspires generative patterns, soundscapes, and visual languages. From pixel to threads, digital media reshapes the physical, manifesting in oil paintings, sheep-skin rugs, and textiles created in collaboration with the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Together, these elements form a garden where ancestral roots are nurtured by the light of modernity.
