IMA is welcoming Lamtharn Hanoi Hantrakul aka "Yaboi Hanoi," a Cultural Technologist, AI Research Scientist, and Composer. Hanoi graduated from Yale University with a degree in Music and Physics, and later completed his masters in Music Technology/ Signal Processing at Georgia Tech. He is a former Google AI resident, where he helped develop DDSP library, paper and Tone Transfer + Sounds of India experience. This year, he won the AI Song Contest. Hanoi is currently a Senior level AI Research Scientist at TikTok R&D based in Shanghai.
In this talk, Hanoi will be sharing several works which dive deep into music, technology and culture from pan-Asian traditions. He will discuss how he draws inspiration from these three main fields to respect, reimagine and challenge one’s own tradition.
