The exhibition will showcase art installations from students taking the course Art and the Anthropocene, Material Based Activism, a collaboration between the Visual Arts and the Interactive Media Arts departments. For this exhibition, students experimented with diverse materials—natural and/or human-made waste— that are abundant in our local environment to propose art pieces that look at a survey of some of the origins, influences, theories, processes, and manifestations of installation art intersected with Eco Materialism (circular design principles – reuse, recycle, renew & rethink – ) and emergent practices based on principles of Gaia theory, symbiosis, and other systems-centered theories.
Artists: Tameemi Batool, Church Annie, Firestone Wes, Guo Junzhe, Hernandez Santiago, Hilaly Imaan, Jiang Jinhe, Li Jacenia, Lin Calvin, Lin Lucas, Poindexter-Benbow Korrina, Sainbayar Emy, Wang Katy, Wen Huiwei, Xu Ran, Zhu Ziyi
Mentors: Monika Lin, Marcela Godoy
Note: The exhibition will be open until Friday Oct 25.
