Moon, Jung Hyun is the Interactive Media Arts (IMA) Low Res Program Coordinator and an Assistant Arts Professor of Interactive Media Arts (IMA) at NYU Shanghai. He holds a Master’s degree from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University (NYU).
His research-based pedagogy and contributions to the open-source library ml5.js focus on making artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and emerging technologies more accessible. Through interdisciplinary new media work, Moon bridges experimental and mainstream approaches across the visual and performing arts, collaborating with choreographers, dancers, and musicians. His creative practice integrates algorithmic animation, machine learning, real-time motion tracking, audio visualization, projection mapping, and web-based Extended Reality (XR) applications.
Moon’s work has recently been showcased at prominent venues across China, including the Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Planetarium, YUZ Museum and the China Shanghai International Arts Festival. Internationally, his projects have been featured at NASA’s Space Apps Challenge, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and several prestigious museums in Korea.
He received the 2025 Goddard Impact Group Award and is organizing Global Show and Tell events that connect and foster creative exploration with AI/ML across NYU campuses.
