Rave culture as become global adopted, with each country localizing it as their own version. Within this project, it introduces aspects of rave culture while also demonstrating the differences and similarities in both the Chinese and American scene through visuals and audio.

Abstract
The immersive installation, Neon Bridges: Synthesizing Rave Culture in China and The United States, delves into the vibrant and captivating world of rave culture, highlighting the energy of both the Chinese and American rave scenes. The centerpiece of the installation is a dynamic video montage that captures the enthusiasm and passion of the American and Chinese rave audiences, capturing the unity of both scenes under the sounds and rhythms of dance music. The audio mix is carefully curated to emphasize the unique aspects of both Chinese and American artists, attempting to create a seamless blend of different genres such as techno, dubstep, trap, house, and more. Artists were selected to represent different aspects of the scene from mainstream to the underground. To enhance the visual and atmospheric experience, the installation features an array of laser and fog effects, replicating the immersive audiovisual experience of attending a rave event. Artifacts integral to the rave scene, such as kandi bracelets, towering totems, and distinctive fashion pieces, are displayed to highlight the creativity and personal expression that defines the participants of rave culture. Kandi bracelets, often handmade, are exchanged as tokens of friendship and a representation of rave’s PLUR culture. Totems, decorated with intricate designs and personal messages serve as placards that demonstrate the identity of a group of friends. The distinctive fashion pieces on display reflect the bold and bright styles raves typical wear. Neon Bridges invites visitors to explore the convergence of two countries' vibrant subculture and celebrate the shared love of electronic music that transcends cultural boundaries. This installation not only highlights their differences between Chinese and American rave cultures, but also their similarities, sharing the love and unity within the rave scene.
